IDEA NAPKIN NO. 1

1. I am a Marketing major, studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. I have customer service and business administration skills. I had an internship last summer with digital media and I have gained knowledge about Marketing. I do not see this business actually happening in my real life but I think I would be able to sell this product with the skills I have learned in my internship and Marketing classes.

2. My product is an automatic door lock for schools, starting in South Florida and hopefully move up towards Gainesville and the rest of the United States. This is an unmet need in elementary and high school because there are school tragedies happening and there needs to be a way to stop it.

3. My customer would be public school systems in different counties within Florida. Each county has its own rules and procedures. I would start with Miami-Dade and then move towards Broward and so on.

4. The customers care because it is something that has been effected in South Florida. The Parkland shooting was a year ago and people are still mourning and it is unfair to parents and students to feel unsafe in school when it is a place of learning and growing.

5. I know people that have been effected by this and I have thought about multiple things that would help schools stay protected. I did not go to public school so I am not sure about their rules, but I have many friends and family members that have gone to public school and I have interviewed them in the past and they agree this is a great idea.

Overall, I think this could go two different ways. I have not calculated the pricing, but I feel like it would be a bit expensive. It all depends on the counties because they all have different budgets and this may not be a priority if some places.

  1. Hi Cristina! I think that the experience you have in marketing could be put to great use for your business idea. It is necessary to market products well in order for them to sell and for you to make a profit. I think that your business idea has great potential and would be a big hit once it is put on the market.

  2. Hey Cristina, love your idea great post. Having a background in marketing is so important if you're serious about this product. Being able to advertise your idea to people around the country and world is a crucial step in taking your business to the next level. If you can find a way to spread your idea, more and more people have the opportunity to believe I it.

  3. Hey Cristina, I really enjoyed what you had to say about this topic. I think it's good that you were realistic about how expensive this plan might be, as it's necessary to keep in mind that this is a fantasy idea that may be completely unsustainable. However, for your product, I would hope this to not be the case since I think it is excellent.
