The who: Public Schools in the United States
The what: They need to have more security and produces during lockdowns
The why: too many tragedies have happened in the past and children need to feel safe in going to school
In my interviews I able to find out that not only students but teachers also want to feel safe in school. In a past blog post I talked about an opportunity to solve this problem. I thought about a button that automatically locks the door during a lockdown drill. This exists in some universities, but not in public schools like elementary, middle, and high school. Last year alone there were over 25 school shooting. It is hard to take guns away from everyone, the government hasn’t done it and it will be hard to get it done. When people want something they will get their hands on it, so that’s why there should be more procedures and ideas to put in plan for the safety of schools. From my interview, I was able to notice that not everyone is scared of going to school. Which is good, but they also agreed that there needed to be better way to stay protected
Hey Cristina! I think that the opportunity to take advantage of the lack of safety in elementary, middle, and high schools is there especially because of all the recent school shootings. I think you have the right idea of instead of focusing on procedures towards the problem with guns, there should be focus on the problem with school lockdown procedures.
