YOUR VENTURE'S UNFAIR ADVANTAGE

Resources needed for my venture:

1. Door
2. Automatic Lock
3. Button to lock door
4. Electrical Materials
5. Technician

Instead of doing a VRIN Analysis for all the resources, it is better to do it all together. There are not much resources that are needed to create this product, therefore the five resources are needed.

Valuable: All the resources will be unique and only made for this product. There will be research done to see what is the best way to go with the automatic door lock product.
Rare: The product has a lot of electrical usage, therefore the technicians will be the only ones who know how to install it.
Inimitable: The product is the only one of its kind. No one has come up with it, so the door, lock, and materials will not be sold or made anywhere else.
Non-Subsitutable: There are similar resources like doors, locks and materials. People can do research and put it together themselves, but it is not the same as how the product will be. Since there is specific research done, this would be the safest options for installations.

Overall, all the resources are important in their own way. They all have their own usage and without one, the other would not work. In order to have an automatic door lock in school, there needs to be a new door installed with the lock and the button or remote to have someone lock it from the inside. There will be a lot of electrical materials used, where the technicians are the only ones who know how to install it.

  1. Hey Cristina! Great format in listing all of the resources. I also liked the format in how you conducted your VRIN analysis too. Very straight to the point. Personally I think the door is a huge resource for you. Without the one of a kind door, the product simply will not operate. It is very good that you aligned all your resources with one another. They are all dependent on each other. Great job with the assignment!

  2. Hi Cristina! I agree that all resources in a business have value in some way. I think your technician is your most valuable resource. His knowledge of the door is really important. The technician will need to be able to teach his knowledge about the door to others. If not he'll need to be at every installation.

  3. Hey Cristina, great work on this post! I am very impressed you chose not to do it in a VRIN format because I believe it worked out great for you. The way you analyzed it is way more clear and precise than if you analyzed it using VRIN. Your resources all make sense for your venture and I agree with you that there seems not to be much resources needed for the door which is good because you cut costs.
